What is Cannabichromene?
This rare cannabinoid is catching researchers eyes. Why? Cannabichromene (CBC) is a naturally occurring phytocannabinoid of the cannabis and hemp plant that was discovered in 1966. Like CBD, it’s non-psychoactive, and shows promising potential benefits for humans and animals alike. Besides tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabichromene, is the most abundantly produced cannabinoid known thus far. So why are you just hearing about it? Read on to learn more.
What is the function of cannabichromene in CBD oil?
Cannabichromene is an interesting cannabinoid requiring much more research to fully understand. So far, it’s benefits are relatively unknown. However, by interacting with our bodies and other cannabinoids, enhancing their effects, it’s believed to promote homeostasis, and possibly much more. In a recent experiment with rodents, some of its effects were observed – even without directly interacting with the endocannabinoid (ECS) receptors, CB1 and CB2!
This method of action is an important distinction as it could signal new ways to utilize cannabinoids and the ECS to further understand cannabis, hemp, and our endocannabinoid system. Interesting, right? Not only do they interact with other cannabinoids, but also with the TRPV1 and TRPA1 receptors. Found in the cellular membranes of animal cells, these ion channel receptors interact with CBC and metabolites of omega-3 fatty acids.
We highly recommend you research published scientific articles available online about cannabichromene (CBC) to explore this further.
Does CBC interact with other cannabinoids?
CBC is known to interact with several cannabinoids. Endocannabinoids like anandamide are important for homeostasis and many functions inside the body. When multiple cannabinoids are present, the entourage effect applies and individual cannabinoids produce their effects better, together, than alone. Your body is constantly monitoring and adjusting all the time – breathing, circulating, eating, recovering, sleeping, etc. When one system is “healthier,” it allows the others to find better balance as well. Remember, wellness is holistic, interconnected. With cannabinoids, even more so! The “Mother Cannabinoid” creates CBC, along with many other cannabinoids.
What is Cannabigerolic Acid?
Prior to becoming CBC, this cannabinoid is in the form cannabigerolic acid (CBGa). Cannbigerolic acid is considered the “mother cannabinoid” of cannabinoids meaning it can transform into multiple others. Which ones? CBGa can create THCa/THC, CBDa/CBD, CBCa/CBC, and CBG. This is only what we know so far. Tomorrow, we may discover it can create or affect many other cannabinoids.
Why does hemp contain more Cannabigerol (CBG)?
The cannabis hemp plant contains more CBG than non-hemp cannabis. Due to a recessive trait, the conversion of CBG into THC in hemp plants is reduced, resulting in a greater concentrations in resulting hemp CBD oils, such as our line of CBD products.
As we learn more of this plant, we’re truly learning more of ourselves.
Why is the entourage effect so important?
Since cannabichromene is a cannabinoid, it’s reasonable to assume that it benefits from the entourage effect to cause positive effects in the human and animal body. As many research studies and published journals have shown, this entourage effect is when multiple cannabinoids interacting together produce greater effects than a single cannabinoid alone. This is one major reason why HempMeds chooses to specialize in full spectrum hemp oil, with the 100+ cannabinoids it contains
