What is the Best Way to Learn What CBD oil is used for?

While there is immense excitement building around cannabidiol or CBD, many who are new to using CBD have the same question: what is CBD oil used for?

You may have noticed that HempMeds® doesn’t make medical claims about our products anywhere on our website or packaging. The same is true of other reputable sources of CBD – and for good reason. CBD hemp oil’s current legal status in the U.S. and many countries internationally often causes hemp oil manufacturers to market their products as dietary supplements.

Because our CBD oil products are categorized as dietary supplements in the United States, we comply with the FDA’s DSHEA guidelines and cannot endorse any specific medical benefits of CBD or our hemp oil. To further comply with FDA regulations, HempMeds® does not list a Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) of our own, nor do we provide a Daily Value (%DV) for any of our products.

This, of course, can make it difficult to know if CBD is right for you or even what CBD oil is used for. HempMeds® provides a wealth of information on our education page regarding CBD, the endocannabinoid system, and our line of CBD hemp oil products on our education page, but we do not make specific medical claims in order to remain compliant with federal regulators.

What we can tell you is that cannabinoids work together with the body’s endocannabinoid system to regulate the body’s natural functions. When absorbed by the body, CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system, which is responsible for maintaining homeostasis through the manipulation of a number of functions like sleep, appetite, and immune function.

When the endocannabinoid system is supplemented by hemp oil products, it is able to function more efficiently, optimizing the body’s performance each day. CBD from hemp oil products augment the body’s naturally occurring endocannabinoids, increasing the body’s ability to promote balance within its systems.

You can also browse the thousands of reputable studies regarding CBD published online. There are over 1,700 medical papers covering cannabidiol published on the government’s website for the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Called PubMed, this resource collects all medical research data into a searchable database and is the first place to check for reliable information about studies into CBD’s potential.

Major news media outlets also publish articles about major breakthroughs in CBD research, sometimes linking out to the research to make it easy to follow up and read for yourself. It is important to remember that there is a lot of misinformation out there regarding cannabinoids like CBD, leading to the controversy we see today as legalization spreads state by state across the U.S. Always be sure to get your information about CBD from a source you can trust.
