Is CBD Safe?

It’s only responsible to consider the safety of any wellness product that you add to your or your family’s health routine. We’re just as dedicated to the safety of CBD, and your satisfaction is what drives us to use the most rigorous manufacturing and testing practices.

It’s not uncommon for those new to using CBD oil products to ask the question– Is CBD safe?

With the demand for CBD oil surging, it only makes sense that many people would be curious about the safety of CBD and whether it’s safe to use a CBD product.

Thankfully, CBD is considered to be non-toxic and well tolerated for humans, and is harmless to use because it does not cause any type of intoxicating effects. Plus, as your trusted CBD source, HempMeds® further ensures the safety of CBD by taking a number of important steps during our manufacturing and testing processes to ensure that our CBD oil products are always safe and reliable.

CBD is Non-Intoxicating

When someone wonders whether CBD is safe, in most cases they’re questioning whether using CBD oil products will cause euphoric effects.

CBD on its own is complete non-intoxicating. The ways in which the CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system promotes balance without causing any euphoric effects.

Unlike marijuana, hemp contains no more than 0.3% THC, the chemical that does cause euphoric effects. Because hemp oil naturally contains such low levels of THC, hemp-derived CBD oil products will not cause any intoxicating effects when consumed at suggested servings.

This means that CBD oil made from hemp is safe to use by your entire family without fear of intoxication.

We also carry CBD products that are made with CBD isolate and contain no detectable amounts of THC for anyone looking to avoid THC even in trace levels.

Responsible Cultivation

To further ensure the safety of our CBD products, we only use non-GMO hemp grown in the Netherlands, one of Europe’s leading agricultural countries. Hemp has grown in Europe for centuries, so farmers there have mastered the best cultivation practices for this versatile plant.

Our hemp is grown on a generational family-owned hemp farm, which cultivates the plant naturally, without the use of pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers. Hemp is a well-known bioaccumulator, meaning it pulls elements from the soil and stores them within the plant itself.

By using natural practices passed down from farmer to farmer to cultivate the hemp, rather than potentially harmful chemicals, our CBD products are able to avoid any residual contamination. For the safety of our customers, we also test every batch of our oil to ensure that it is free of any toxins.

Clean Extraction

CBD companies have several potential solvents to choose from to extract their CBD oil from the hemp plant. Some opt to use dangerous solvents like butane, ethanol, and hexane in their extraction process, raising the risk of residual contamination of CBD products and even environmental damage to local ecosystems.

HempMeds® uses clean supercritical CO2 to extract the CBD oil from our hemp crops. It’s an extraction process that the FDA considered GRAS or “generally regarded as safe.” Used extensively for commercial extraction in the food industry, supercritical CO2 is most famously used to remove the caffeine from decaffeinated coffee.

Supercritical CO2 is non-toxic and it eliminates the risk of contamination, helping to protect you and your entire family.

Rigorous Safety Testing

All of the CBD products available from HempMeds® have been rigorously tested for both safety and quality. We set the standard for the most stringent testing process in the CBD industry, and our Triple Lab Testing® standard continues to lead the way.

Our Triple Lab Testing® process involves using ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited testing labs to examine our hemp oil and assure both its safety and quality. These independent labs examine our CBD oil to ensure that it contains an accurate concentration of cannabinoids and that it’s free of any harmful contamination, including:

  • Residual solvents
  • Heavy metals
  • Mold
  • Mildew
  • E.coli
  • Fungus
  • Yeast
  • Mycotoxins
  • Salmonella

Our hemp oil is tested three separate times throughout our manufacturing process so that you can feel confident that our products are completely safe for use by you and your entire family (even your pets!).

We test the safety of CBD oil after it’s extracted from the plant and then again just before formulation. Our finished CBD products then undergo a final test to make sure that what gets delivered to your doorstep is of the highest quality and safe.

CBD Safety Assured

So is CBD safe? Yes– CBD is well tolerated and non-toxic.

With that said, it’s important to keep in mind that not all CBD oil products are the same. You want to make sure that you’re getting your safe CBD products from a reliable, trusted source. Companies that use improperly grown and processed hemp can leave you and your family exposed to potentially harmful effects of residual contaminants.

That’s why HempMeds® grows our non-GMO hemp without any harmful chemical fertilizers, extracts our oil using safe supercritical CO2, and rigorously tests the quality and safety of our CBD oil products. Many of our CBD products have been awarded the coveted U.S. Hemp Authority Seal, which means they meet the organization’s stringent self-regulatory quality and safety standards and passed a third-party audit. Recognizing that people all over the world rely on us for the cannabinoids they need for wellness, we put into place these industry-leading practices to ensure that you’re happy with the safety of every product you buy from us.
