19 Sep HEMPMEDS® SPONSORSHIP OF “RUN4HOPE 5K AND FUN RUN” RAISES OVER $25K FOR CDKL5 SEIZURE RESEARCH
As a lead sponsor of the “Run4Hope 5K and Fun Run,” HempMeds® is proud and excited to announce that over $25,000 was raised at the event this past weekend, September 16th. Held each year by the Hope4Harper foundation, over 300 families turned out for “Run4Hope”, a fundraiser for CDKL5 seizure research.
“We’re very excited to have HempMeds as our top sponsor. They have come through for us in a very big way,” said Penny Howard, co-founder of Hope4Harper. “This event will raise awareness of this debilitating disorder in our community and raise significant funds for more research.”
Hope4Harper was started by Penny Howard, a Dallas mom whose daughter Harper Elle Howard was born with a very rare, non-hereditary, life-threatening genetic disorder called CDKL5 epilepsy. CDKL5 is a rare genetic seizure disorder that has no known cure. Symptoms usually present themselves in the first few months of a child’s life. Most CDKL5 children cannot walk or talk, and are often confined to a wheelchair.
The Howard family found out about HempMeds® Real Scientific Hemp Oil™ (RSHO™) after weeks and weeks of research online and Penny Howard later became a spokesperson for HempMeds® of her own volition.
Sadly, Harper Howard passed away on Jan. 8, 2016, due to additional medical complications beyond CDKL5. However, Harper’s bold spirit lives on through her charitable foundation and her family’s commitment to finding a cure for CDKL5. “We share a special bond with the Howards that goes above and beyond a typical client-patient relationship”, summed up HempMeds’ CEO Dr. Stuart Titus.
“We’re honored to have been part of the Howard family’s journey and applaud Penny Howard’s continued courage to share her daughter Harper’s story, and continue her efforts to raise funds for critical medical research that will help other families around the world,” said Dr. Titus.
HempMeds also donated products at the event.
