25 Oct Hemp Oil Guacamole
Oh, that beloved guacamole. Paired with chips, it serves as one of our snacking staples. Without it, quesadillas and burritos are incomplete. A sandwich becomes that much better when it finds its way into the mix. While avocados are already known for their heart-health and anti-inflammatory benefits, you can make your guacamole an even greater natural benefit powerhouse by incorporating hemp oil into your favorite recipe.
Plus, rest assured that hemp oil will fit in nicely with your other guacamole ingredients because it has a light, nutty flavor. It also helps to make the dip creamier, making it an ideal consistency for spreading on a sandwich.
3-4 peeled, pitted and mashed avocados
¼ cup lime juice
1 tsp hemp oil
½ cup diced red onion
3 tbsp chopped cilantro
2 tbsp diced red pepper
1 diced tomato
1 tsp salt
1 minced clove garlic
In a large bowl, mash all the ingredients together, starting with the avocados, lime juice, salt and onion, and then adding the cilantro, tomatoes, red pepper and garlic. If the mixture is too thick, add a little more hemp oil. Be sure to make the guacamole when you’re ready for it to be served, as it’ll turn brown rather quickly when left out.
How well your guacamole turns out will greatly depend on the ripeness and quality of the avocados you have. You want your avocados to be ripe, but not too ripe. Take the time to evaluate each avocado. Hold it in your palm and gently squeeze. You want to feel some give, and the feeling of give should be uniform around the entire avocado. Avoid selecting ones that are darker black or feel too soft in certain areas, because this means they’re too ripe. If you’re buying avocados a few days before you’ll be making guacamole, choose ones that are stiff. They’ll continue to ripen over the next few days.
