29 Mar The CBD Guide for Acupuncturists
You want to supply your patients with the very best in wellness techniques, but are you offering them all that you can be?
Did you know that CBD oil interacts with our natural systems to promote homeostasis?
A daily CBD serving and acupuncture have many of the same goals, including achieving balance within the body and mind.
Traditional Chinese medicine offers a range of practices that use concepts based on a tradition that’s 5,000 years old, including the use of herbs. Cannabis is one of the fifty fundamental herbs of traditional Chinese medicine. Now you can harness the benefits of cannabis in the form of hemp-derived CBD oil.
What is CBD Oil?
Cannabidiol or CBD is one of the most exciting restorative compounds available today, and consumers and businesses alike are discovering its wellness benefits.
CBD is a cannabinoid, a class of over 100 active chemical compounds present in the cannabis plant, including both marijuana and hemp. Found in the cannabis plant’s seeds and stalks, CBD can be extracted from the plant as part of its cannabis oil.
This oil can then be processed into a number of CBD-infused products that can be used to boost wellness and increase the body’s ability to maintain balance. When CBD oil is extracted from low-THC hemp, the resulting products are non-psychoactive and safe to use by everyone, including your patients.
How Can I Use CBD on My Patients?
CBD oil products can be given to your acupuncture patients to help them achieve wellbeing by promoting balance in the body.
When CBD oil products are used, plant-based cannabinoids or phytocannabinoids like CBD are absorbed by the body where they make their way to the bloodstream and are transported throughout the body to interact with special cannabinoid receptors in the central and peripheral nervous systems.
The neural communication network that uses these cannabinoid neurotransmitters, known as the endocannabinoid system, plays a critical role in the nervous system’s normal functioning. Endocannabinoids such as anandamide and 2-AG function as neurotransmitters, sending chemical messages between nerve cells throughout the nervous system.
Phytocannabinoids mimic the roles of the body’s endogenous (naturally-occurring) cannabinoids like anandamide and 2-AG. CBD and THC’s chemical structures are similar to those of 2-AG and anandamide, allowing us to use them to manipulate the endocannabinoid system to achieve beneficial effects in the body.
HempMeds® distributes its line of hemp-derived CBD oil products while following all Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines. Because of this, we are unable to make medical claims about products. Instead, we refer health professionals like yourself to the wealth of research regarding the effects of CBD available online.
CBD oil products come in a variety of consumption types, such as capsules, tinctures, topical salves, vaporizers, pure hemp oil oral applicators, and more. These daily use products provide all the benefits of CBD with none of the worries over THC from other medical marijuana products.
But is CBD Legal?
Hemp products, including those consisting of CBD, are legal in the U.S. as long as they are manufactured using imported hemp. Hemp is defined in the U.S. has any cannabis plant containing 0.3% THC per dry weight or less. At these levels, the THC in hemp-derived CBD oil products is far too low to produce psychoactive effects in humans.
Because our products are derived from low-THC hemp, they are federally legal in the U.S. and over 40 countries internationally. However, we suggest you check your local laws to see if CBD oil products have any special restrictions where you have your acupuncture practice.

While our RSHO™ pure hemp oil is our most potent product, our tinctures are generally our least potent. Made with the same hemp oil as our other products, our tinctures are mixed with vegetable glycerine or medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil to give them a thinner consistency and lower overall strength between 1 mg and 10.5 mg per serving.
RSHO™ and Dixie Botanicals® bot feature tinctures in their line of CBD products. While RSHO™ tinctures are unflavored, Dixie Botanicals® offer all-natural flavors like cinnamon, and peppermint, in addition to an unflavored option.
Our RSHO™ brand also carries a line of liquid products. RSHO™ Liquid is made by combining our pure hemp oil with MCT oil for a mid-potency product that combines the benefits of pure RSHO™ hemp oil with the ease and portability of tinctures.
Because RSHO™ Liquid is made using sustainable coconut and palm oils, it can easily be added to your favorite foods and beverages or taken on a spoon. Read our guide to creative ways to enjoy your RSHO™ Liquid here or come up with your own favorite method to take RSHO™ Liquid.
Several of our brands, including RSHO™ and Dixie Botanicals®, also offer our CBD hemp oil in capsule form for unrivaled ease and portability. It is easy to slip these hemp oil capsules in among your daily vitamins without much change to your day.
For customers with a preference, RSHO™ capsules come in Green, Blue, and Gold Labels, contain 25 mg of CBD each, and are combined with 200 mg of calcium and 200 mg of our proprietary blend of powdered turmeric root and white willow bark for added botanical effects.
Dixie Botanicals® CBD Gel Caps combine hemp oil containing 25 mg CBD capsules with medium chain triglyceride (MCT) oil to naturally boost absorption.
Designed for external use, CBD hemp oil topicals are a popular option among customers new to hemp oil products. Rubbed into the desired area, topicals are absorbed into the skin for localized benefits and never make it into the bloodstream.
RSHO™ CBD hemp oil salve and Dixie Botanicals® Hemp oil Salvation Balm offer 50 mg of CBD per jar.
