CBD Energy Chews vs Energy Drinks

When you begin to hit your afternoon slump, you have several choices to boost your energy to get you through to the end of the day. Traditionally, you can pour yourself a cup of coffee, grab a snack that is naturally packed with sugars, or reach for a high calorie energy drink, or alternatively, enjoy CBD energy chews.

There is no doubt to the prominence of energy drinks these days. Their use has become more and more prevalent across age groups, and there are now over 500 different energy drinks available to choose from today. The energy drink market was worth a recorded $39 billion worldwide in 2013 and is forecast to reach $61 billion by 2021.

Energy drinks may be popular, but they have gotten a bad rep among health experts recently – and for good reason. Next time you need to kickstart your day with sustained energy, reach instead for Dixie Botanicals® Kicks CBD energy chews and avoid the dangers associated with energy drinks.

The US Food and Drug Administration generally considers caffeine in daily doses of less than 400 mg as safe. However, some energy drinks contain 400 mg of caffeine or more in a single can. Each Kick CBD energy chew contains just 100 mg, about the same as a cup of coffee, and much less than the most popular energy drinks.

However, it isn’t just the high levels of caffeine that make energy drinks dangerous. They often consist of a host of other ingredients over which to be concerned.

Most energy drinks contain large amounts of added sugars and stimulants: such as guarana, a plant that grows in the Amazon; taurine, an amino acid that’s naturally found in meat and fish; and L-carnitine, a substance in our bodies that helps turn fat into energy.

Some of these added ingredients, like taurine and guarana, have not been FDA-approved as safe for use in the food supply. Taurine can affect the levels of water and minerals in your blood, and guarana, which contains caffeine, is added to energy drinks that already contain high levels of added caffeine, increasing a drink’s total caffeine levels. Dixie Botanicals® Kicks contain only natural B vitamins, which interact naturally with the body to encourage heightened levels of energy.

According to the National Institutes of Health, Between 2007 and 2011, the overall number of energy drink related visits to the ER doubled, with the highest increase (279 percent) in people aged 40 and older. These risks are not produced solely by the caffeine, but by the way the high levels of caffeine interact with other “energy boosting” ingredients.

Since many energy drinks are also very high in sugar, they can also eventually wear out the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas, leading to type 2 diabetes. Just one can of a popular energy drink can contain up to 50 grams of sugar or more. This level exceeds the maximum amount of sugar that both men and women should consume in one day and could promote an unhealthy risk for diabetes. Alternatively, Dixie Botanicals® have just 2 grams of sugar per chew, making them a healthier, lower calorie option.
