CBD Benefits

Cannabidiol is a natural compound found in cannabis. Also known as CBD, cannabidiol is a breakthrough nutritional supplement and has become quite popular as an alternative to other over the counter wellness products. The many benefits our customers around the world have experienced are summarized below.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is found throughout the seeds, stalk, and flowers of cannabis plants — including hemp and marijuana. Unlike many of the 100+ cannabinoids that we are aware of, cannabidiol occurs naturally in significant quantities in cannabis, so it is easily extracted from the plant.

While cannabidiol is not yet FDA approved for any condition, many independent and third-party studies have shown promising results for a variety of indications. A quick internet search will arm you with a wealth of related information. Additionally, through anecdotal evidence, many people have used CBD products on their own to address various issues requiring large amounts of CBD (CBD liquids) to travel-friendly options (topicals and tinctures).

Compounds With Benefits

There are many benefits to taking a daily serving of CBD from hemp oil products. The most exciting among them is that CBD oil supplements help to augment the body’s naturally occurring endocannabinoids, increasing the body’s ability to promote homeostasis within its systems.

ho·me·o·sta·sis - the tendency toward a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, especially as maintained by physiological processes.

Cannabinoids are a class of active chemical compounds produced by the cannabis plant. These cannabinoids act on receptors located in our cells as part of the endocannabinoid system (ECS) and alter the release of neurotransmitters from body organs, including the brain. The ECS predominantly consists of two endocannabinoid receptors: CB1, located in the central nervous system (CNS), and CB2, found throughout the peripheral nervous system (PNS). There may even be another CB receptor or two inside our body. Researchers across the world are working to find that answer.

There are over 100 presently discovered cannabinoids, which are largely responsible for the effects cannabis has on the body. Common cannabinoids include tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD), cannabinol (CBN), and cannabigerol (CBG). THC and CBD have attracted much of the media’s attention however, cannabinoids like CBGa are emerging as important pieces to the ECS puzzle. Cannabinoids work together with the body’s ECS to regulate the body’s natural functions – including mood, sleep, appetite, immune response, and signal modulation.

Once the endocannabinoid system is supplemented in this way it is able to function more efficiently by optimizing the body’s performance each day. Although it is not critical to supplement the endocannabinoid system daily, doing so increases the effectiveness of CBD and the endocannabinoid system.

However, a hemp oil supplement offers more than just cannabinoids like CBD. Hemp oil also provides a number of benefits to the body, including:

  • Essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals
  • Healthy Fatty Acids like Omega-3 and Omega-6
  • Complete source of protein
  • Flavonoids and terpenes
  • It’s Non-psychoactive!
  • Organically Grown, Non-GMO
  • Improved fitness recovery

The below are other benefits associated with CBD hemp oil, but not necessarily for your physiological body:

Essential Nutrients, Vitamins, Minerals

essential vitamins, nutrients, and protein from hemp oil

A daily serving of CBD hemp oil offers a slew of nutrients including iron, zinc, carotene, phospholipids, phytosterols, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin D, vitamin E, chlorophyll, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, copper, potassium, phosphorus, and enzymes. Eating a diet that includes optimal levels of all these elements is very difficult. If your nutrition is bad, or worse, consisting of mostly processed foods, it’s near impossible to consume healthy amounts of essential vitamins and nutrients.

These are raw materials your body requires to function properly. Essential vitamins, nutrients, and minerals work together in unison to perform hundreds of roles in a healthy human body. They help strengthen bones, heal wounds, and bolster your immune system. They also convert food into energy, and repair cellular damage. Researchers describe cannabinoids interacting with these vitamins and nutrients the ‘entourage effect.’ The entourage effect is used describe the improved benefits when all compounds work together, instead of separately. Each vitamin, mineral, or cannabinoid works great when alone. Together, they work better.

Omega Fatty Acids And Proteins

omega fatty acids and proteinsCBD hemp oil is abundant in protein, polyunsaturated fatty acids, omega 6, omega 3, and insoluble fiber. Composed of nearly 85 percent essential fatty acids (EFAs) alone, it offers the richest, most balanced natural source of EFAs.

The human body can synthesize most of the fats it needs from the diet. However, two essential fatty acids, linoleic and alpha-linolenic, cannot be synthesized in the body and must be obtained from food. The amount of alpha-linolenic and linolenic acid in one tablespoon of hemp oil provides more than the daily EFA requirements suggested by the FDA.

These basic fats, found in plant foods, are used to build specialized fats called omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are important in the normal functioning of all tissues of the body.

If you don’t get enough of these fatty acids, your health may suffer dramatically. Deficiencies in these fatty acids lead to a host of problems and symptoms, including liver and kidney abnormalities, reduced growth rates, decreased immune function, depression, and dryness of the skin.

On the flip side, proper intake of the essential fatty acids can aid in numerous health benefits. Some of these include prevention of atherosclerosis, reduced incidence of heart disease and stroke, and relief from ulcerative colitis, menstrual pain, and joint pain. Omega-3 fatty acid levels have also been associated with decreased breast cancer risk.

Flavonoids And Terpenes

Flavonoids are antioxidants that exhibit significant anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and diastolic effects. They can also strengthen the immune system and facilitate the absorption of vitamins. Red wine’s beneficial effects on the heart and skin can be largely linked to the high content of flavonoids in the vine. Small world, huh?

Terpenes contribute to a plant’s flavor, scent, and color. These compounds are the main ingredient for essential oils. Often used in food additives, perfumery and aromatherapy, some are even thought to have medicinal properties – fighting bacteria, fungus, and environmental stress.

It’s Non-Psychoactive

cbd is nonpsychoactive

Work, play, or at rest, be assured you’ll feel your best. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the compound in marijuana that gets you high, the primary cannabinoid in hemp, CBD, is non-psychoactive. Hemp is naturally high in CBD containing only trace amounts of THC, meaning that with hemp you can supplement CBD into your routine without experiencing the negative effects of THC.

Some CBD hemp oil products, like our RSHO-X, contain such small trace amounts of THC, it’s an excellent choice for competitive athletes, government employees, and parents for their small children.

The Research Is There

cbd oil research

There are over 23,000 studies and reviews published in respected peer-reviewed science and medical journals, new clinical trials being announced nearly every month, and many more studies beginning to research the effects of cannabinoids.

There’s too many to list in one place so we invite you to do your own research into the benefits of cannabis from sources you trust and speak with your doctor before starting any new supplement routine.

EU Organic Cooperative Farm Standards

EU standards for industrial hemp production

Due to strict federal restrictions on hemp cultivation in the U.S., the CBD hemp oil used in our products must be imported into the country before we can process it. We work with a Northern European cooperative of 750 individual family farms with generations of cultivating experience. After testing and reviewing over 3,000 possible hemp cultivars, we chose the specific hemp plant that would thrive in our farms’ local climate and soil to produce the optimal harvest for our CBD hemp oil products.

Triple Lab Tested For Your Safety

To ensure the safety and quality of our hemp oil products, we test our pure hemp oil three times along our manufacturing process. Our hemp oil is first tested for purity and potency after harvesting. Once we import our hemp oil, we test it again with an independent testing lab to verify integrity, safety, and quality. Our oil is then tested a third time after being processed and formulated into our products to help guarantee the products delivered to your door are safe for you and your family. This Triple Lab Testing™ approach to our products is our promise that the products you receive from us are the best quality, and the safest you will find in the market.

Options, Variety, And Choices

Whether you are looking to take high quantities of CBD or just want to supplement your diet with a couple milligrams a day, we have the options you are looking for. From pure, high potency oils to low dose tinctures, our range of applications were designed to fit all lifestyles and CBD needs.

Our products come in your choice of tinctures, oils, capsules, and even chewing gum to fit the method that works best for you. For those interested in topical use of CBD, we offer a number of salves, balms, and bath and body products.

No Med Card Necessary

no med card necessary for cbd oil

No “doctor” visits for you if you want to try CBD hemp oil! You do not need a medical card when buying CBD hemp oil. Because hemp-based products are sold as a dietary supplement, it is available nationwide to purchase online or in stores, just like any supplement or multivitamin.

Legit And Legal

CBD derived from hemp is 100% legal to purchase and ship in the U.S. and in over 40 countries worldwide. Hemp, cannabis, and marijuana (slang term) are from the exact same plant species – Cannabis sativa. It’s common to mistake hemp and cannabis unless you know why they’re different. The easiest way to tell? If it’s under .3% THC content then it’s hemp.

Cannabis containing THC levels above .3%, extending into levels between 15-30% THC is considered medical marijuana, or medical cannabis. Remember, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the psychoactive component of cannabis. Without these higher THC levels, there are no psychoactive effects, so you can rest easy knowing “CBD is right for me.”

Easy Access

Unlike medical marijuana, which requires you to visit a dispensary or give a delivery service your home address, (or meeting in a public area), getting CBD hemp oil at home is simple.

CBD Benefits For Seniors

CBD is non-psychoactive and doesn’t produce the euphoric effect of THC. Which means seniors can breathe easy while benefiting from the positive effects of CBD. With so many people reaching retirement age or older in this country, it is increasingly important to offer our Baby Boomers a healthy supplement to encourage healthy aging. CBD hemp oil can be used throughout all your years to create homeostasis; whether you’re in college, sending the kids off to college, or visiting grandkids in college. All ages enjoy all its benefits!

CBD Benefits For Kids

Do you lay vitamins out for your children in the morning with breakfast? Many families are in the habit of taking a vitamin and supplement routine together for optimal health and wellness, but they may be missing a crucial element essential for balance within the body – hemp oil.

Packed with cannabidiol (CBD), hemp oil helps the body perform at its best. CBD interacts with the body’s natural endocannabinoid system to help regulate functions like sleep, appetite, and immune response to maintain homeostasis or a state of balance despite outside fluctuations and influences. There’s even preliminary research pointing to CBD’s benefits for attentiveness or focus.

Hemp oil also contains a number of essential vitamins, minerals, omega fatty acids, proteins, fiber, and other trace cannabinoids found in the hemp plant. By providing such unique nutritional content, CBD hemp oil earns a place among your other favorite daily vitamins and supplements to give to your family each day.

It’s Patented By The Government

Our own government acknowledges the benefits of cannabidiol (CBD) and other cannabinoids in their patent on cannabinoids. Identified as patent 6,630,507, Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants, this government-owned patent, awarded to Nobel Laureate Julius Axelrod and his team in 2003, describes the possible effects of cannabinoids like CBD.

The patent’s text reads, “Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties, unrelated to NMDA receptor antagonism.” It continues, “The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants… Non Psychoactive cannabinoids, such as cannabidiol, are particularly advantageous to use because they avoid toxicity.”

According to the government’s patent, cannabinoids like CBD act as antioxidants. In much the same way, patent ‘507 also recognizes the ability of cannabinoids as potential neuroprotectants. Overall, cannabinoids like CBD promote balance and homeostasis through their interaction with the body’s endocannabinoid system, which is responsible for functions like sleep, appetite, and immune response.

The Not So Fine Print

Because our CBD oil products are categorized as dietary supplements in the United States, we comply with the FDA’s DSHEA guidelines and cannot endorse any specific medical benefits of CBD or our hemp oil.

To further comply with FDA regulations, HempMeds® does not list a Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) of our own, nor do we provide a Daily Value (%DV) for any of our products. We encourage you to browse the thousands of reputable studies regarding CBD published online and talk with your doctor to see if a CBD supplement is right for you.

Your safety and satisfaction are paramount in every decision HempMeds® makes day to day. We take a number of important steps during our manufacturing process to ensure that the CBD oil products that you and your family have come to trust are always the safest and most reliable they can be.

All HempMeds® products are crafted locally in San Diego and held to California’s strict regulations on manufacturing. Use our quick product guide to see which HempMeds® product is right for you.
